What is Securitisation?

Securitisation is a form of debt financing technology used in a variety of forms to raise off-balance and alternative financing for corporates and financial institutions.

In its most generic form, securitisation uses the revenue stream generated by an asset to raise financing either by public bonds or conduit papers. Recourse is only to those isolated assets which engender the cash-flow.

Assets are transferred without any recourse to a special purpose, bankruptcy-remote vehicle (SPV), which finances this purchase by issuing negotiable instruments.
